New university art exhibition in Bury St Edmunds has everything from rave culture to Richard the Lionheart

A new exhibition of work encompassing everything from rave culture to Richard the Lionheart and illustration to insects is taking place in Bury St Edmunds this week.

Sian Horn and Glenn Pickering at the IMAGINE art exhibition at University Studies at West Suffolk College in Bury - the exhibition runs until October and is free to enter.

The showcase called IMAGINE can be viewed at the University Professional Development Centre based on Western Way.

Work on display has been created by BA(Hons) Graphic Communication and BA(Hons) Art Practice from University Studies at West Suffolk College.

It is free to enter and it can be viewed until October 2024 during college opening hours.

Sian Horn is the course director for BA Hons Graphic Communications. Sian said: “The show is a culmination of the student’s work demonstrating their creativity, curiosity and talent as designers and art practitioners. Three of our students have already got jobs in industry before they have graduated and 80% of our learners received first class honours last year. So visitors to the exhibition are in for a treat and I hope it inspires them to consider starting a degree with us.”

Glenn Pickering is the course leader for BA Hons Art Practice at University Studies at West Suffolk College. Glenn said: “People should come and see the exhibition. It’s a real mix of creativity on show and it gives a flavour of the talent that we support here at University Studies.”

One of the exhibitors Maia Sivaraj, 22, from Halesworth is studying on a graphics communications course. Maia said: “My work on display is a beauty brand called Blossom. If  you are finishing GCSEs and A levels and you want to see what creative degree work looks like, I think it would be fun to come along. It’s a real variety - which is really nice.”

Tours can be arranged by contacting: universitystudies@easterneducationgroup.ac.uk
