CEO says it’s an ‘honour’ to be appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Suffolk

The CEO of the Eastern Education Group – Dr Nikos Savvas - has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for Suffolk. 

The Lieutenancy of Suffolk - like other county lieutenancies in the United Kingdom - serves several ceremonial, civic and community roles.

As the personal representative of the King in Suffolk, the Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Clare, Countess of Euston, Dr Savvas will work with Lady Clare and her team by bridging the gap between the monarch and the local community, promoting the interests and welfare of people living in the county. 

Dr Savvas has been a leading figure in Suffolk’s education sector since joining West Suffolk College in 2013. 

Thanks to his vision and leadership, the Eastern Education Group has grown to include One Sixth Form in Ipswich and Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds, both rated Outstanding by Ofsted. 

Dr Savvas said: “It is an absolute honour to be recognised and given this role. Our vision at Eastern Education Group is to ensure that in an ever-changing world, we deliver a world-class, inspirational, life-long learning journey that drives prosperity for all in our communities. I will endeavour to use this privilege for the good of all in the eastern region, flying the flag for education, as we at EEG continue to transform education.
