Innovation Day

On Tuesday 05 May, a group of students from some of our Creative Technologies courses proudly hosted a digital technology event.

The event formed part of their academic coursework and it involved providing an interactive digital technology experience for 60 visiting Key Stage 2 pupils from Guildhall Feoffment Community Primary School.

Throughout the day, the pupils were able to engage and immerse themselves with a range of activities including coding with Arduino circuits. They also took part in creating 3D models which they were then able to view in Virtual Reality (VR) using headsets. In addition to this, the visiting students were able to assist in designing digital 3D models of castles which will go on to be 3D printed here at University Studies and sent to the school for them to keep.

The pupils also got to experience gaming across a selection of different consoles, with the use of the driving rigs on the Xbox and Mariokart on the Nintendo Switch, as well as the original Game Boy Advance. We also had the opportunity to showcase Fusion Racers, a video game created by our own level 5 students which was set up for the pupils to play and engage with.

We are delighted to have hosted such a wonderful and engaging group of young students. The event has proven a fantastic opportunity for both our own students and the Guildhall Feoffment pupils to gain relevant experiences and connections. We look forward to hosting them again in the future.
