Guest Speaker for Neurodiversity Celebration Week

For Neurodiversity celebration week, we were joined by local training provider, ThreeEggs.

Three Eggs is a consultancy and training business based in Bury St Edmunds who focus on promoting a positive attitude towards mental health in every workplace and encouraging employees to care for their own wellbeing at work. They joined us in the University Studies Building to discuss with our students what Neurodiversity is and how workplaces can aim to be more inclusive.

ThreeEggs is a business that: 'Using our experience in business, lifelong learning and mental health, we work with your organisation’s human resources policies and procedures and your current training culture to design an effective learning framework and mental health policy. We work with you to ensure our training programmes meet your objectives and deliver effective learning and support positive workplace mental health within your teams’.

It is thought that approximately 1 in 7 people experience some form of neurodiversity, however that figure could potentially be much higher due to a lack of diagnosis. Neurodiverse conditions include Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Each of these conditions have their own disadvantages when it comes to the workplace including difficulty focusing, stress and difficulty socialising. ThreeEggs do incredible work helping employers to work with their neurodiverse employees and make the workplace an efficient and enjoyable environment for all.

This was an incredible opportunity for some of our students, particularly those studying health related subjects such as Counselling and Psychology. It provided them with a chance to get questions answered about the possibilities of working within mental health and occupational therapy and how these traditionally clinical fields are making their way into the workplace.
