Guest Speaker for Deaf Awareness Week

On Wednesday 04 May, we will be joined by Christine Steward from Sensing Change. This will be a fantastic opportunity to learn from and connect with those who work within the deaf community as part of Deaf Awareness Week. The visit will be an exciting chance for our students to meet potential connection and bring awareness.

“Sensing Change is a professional Social Work Practice providing a range of services including social work, rehabilitation, support and communication to people with sight and/or hearing loss throughout Suffolk and beyond. We are contracted by Suffolk County Council to provide free social care assessments to Suffolk adults with sight and/or hearing loss, including carers who may be providing care for a relative or friend.”

Anyone can make contact with Sensing Change to ask for advice and information or to make a referral for yourself or for someone else. Their Sensory Awareness Training is a vital part of what they provide. It gives people a comprehensive introduction into the possible impact that living with sight or hearing loss can have. They cover how this affects a range of aspects of peoples lives including independence, health and wellbeing. Sensing Change also provides lessons in BSL for learners of all levels.
