Jane Ngwani: ‘I’ve proved to myself that I can do this’
Tell us about your course. What are you particularly enjoying about it?
I’m particularly enjoying the Criminology aspect of the course, especially about the drivers behind why people commit crime and the insight behind human behaviour. I’m really interested in how cultural differences can be causes of criminal behaviour.
What made you decide on this particular course?
I’m really interested in the humanitarian field. I want to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
What made you decide on University Studies?
I have three children, my youngest is only four months old. I needed to be able to make it work logistically.
How do you think it’s different to other places?
The learning experience is so personal.
What are you most proud of on your US journey so far?
Before I came here I wasn’t confident at all, Now, I just naturally express myself.
What’s the one biggest thing you’ve learned at US so far... about yourself? And about your subject?
I’ve proved to myself that I can do this.
What do you plan to do after graduating?
I’d either like to go into social work or set up my own charity.
How will US help you achieve those goals?
By giving me transferable skills and a positive mindset.
