A team of experts will be on hand in Bury St Edmunds to offer advice and guidance to those considering options relating to higher education courses.

Situated at University Studies at West Suffolk College, an open event will take place on 17 August 2024 between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

The occasion will be happening at University and Professional Development Centre based on Western Way.

A clearing hotline (01284 412 026) has also been set to help people in the wake of their recent results.

The courses available at University Studies are affiliated to the University of East Anglia and Pearsons and include everything from counselling to construction and music to business and management.

Elspeth Lees is the Executive Dean for Higher Education and University Studies at West Suffolk College. Elspeth said: “Many students are eagerly awaiting their grades and are considering their options post results.

“Some may not achieve the results they hoped for and university clearing offers a valuable opportunity to seek a place on courses. For those who may not have previously applied to university, our open event and clearing hotline provide a further opportunity to apply for a courses in 2024.

“Our team will be able to discuss courses, the admissions process, finance and general student support. Clearing is a process that provides an opportunity for students who did not receive any offers, declined their offers, did not meet the conditions of their offers, career changers, adult learners and those who didn’t apply to find a suitable course.

“Our programmes also include opportunities for higher level apprenticeships.

“As an organisation, we pride ourselves on being a local university offer with a wide range of courses that give students the chance to stay close to home while pursuing their academic goals. We have excellent staff who are experts in their field who offer one to one tutorials. In addition to this, classes tend to be small in number and we have condensed timetables to allow people to work and study. We have a dedicated careers team who can offer support with part time employment.

“Clearing can be a stressful time, but it can also open doors to new opportunities and many successful students have found their perfect course through clearing.

Elspeth also had some reassuring words and added: “Whatever your circumstances, stay calm and positive, be proactive and embrace this chance to find the right path for your future – we would love to help you.”
