Lifelong learning with The Eastern Colleges Group – Suffolk Show 2022
The Eastern Colleges Group (ECG) comprising of West Suffolk College, One Sixth Form College in Ipswich, Abbeygate Sixth Form College and University Studies at West Suffolk College celebrated the Jubilee together under one unified banner at the 2022 Suffolk Show.
According to Jade Perry, the organiser of show activities this year, ECG helps champion opportunities for people of all ages across the region’.
In terms of the Jubilee, the group gave nods to her majesty in the skills zone and on their main stand. Such activities included the creation of a two-metre-high carpentry crown by construction learners that will be donated to a local primary school once it’s been completed.
Carrie Edwards who is the Head of Marketing for the Eastern Colleges Group, said: “The Suffolk Show is a great opportunity to show the public all we have to offer across ECG and it’s the perfect chance for organisations likes ourselves to showcase the amazing work that is taking place by our students and staff.”
Elsewhere at the show, West Suffolk College launched a new logistics course to help counteract staff shortages in these industries.
Head of business and tourism at the College, Tracey Marshall, said: “We have launched a new logistics level three course in collaboration with the Careers College. The reason we have done this is because there are many future challenges ahead in relation to the logistics industries.
“Around a third of the population working in this industry is set to retire in the next few years so there is an enormous opportunity for employment in these industries in the eastern region.”
