Refugee Week 2022

On Wednesday 22 June, Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students and staff joined together for a picnic in the sunshine. This is an event which is taking place all over the UK this week as we celebrate the remarkable strength of those fleeing their homes for Refugee Week 2022.

‘Through creativity and conversations, Refugee Week 2022 will be a celebration of community, mutual care, and the human ability to start again.’ - https://refugeeweek.org.uk/

This was an incredible opportunity for Eastern Colleges group to be able to celebrate diversity in the range of different cultures and nationalities of our student refugees. We feel extremely honored to be able to be able to help educate and work with such an amazing group of individuals and help them build a positive future. It was wonderful to see that everyone was talkative and engaging with each other which gave a wonderful sense of community.

‘It was fabulous to celebrate the diverse range of different cultures and countries that our student refugees come from, seeing everyone enjoying each other’s company, sharing a meal on such a warm sunny day, it was a great way to bring everyone together outside of the classroom’ said Anne Short, Head of ESOL & Adult Digital Skills.
